Squash

I am growing Crookneck Squash. I had always assumed that all of the squash flowers turned into baby squash...not so. There have been many blooms but only one has grown into a squash. I had thought that you would have to pick the buds to make squash flower soup or stuffed squash blossoms and that it would be a waste of the squash. As it turns out there are probably 10 flowers to one small squash that developed...hmmm interesting.

  1. There are male and female blossoms. So my dad says....I could ask him more about it, but we aren't on speaking terms you know. So that's what I remember from the days when my brother made me help him poison the asparagus.
